Clinical Trials
A second avenue of scientific enquiry has been the design, introduction, and management of controlled clinical trials. This has now become the major focus of the Foundation's work.
Much of the modern practice of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is based upon laboratory study. Little controlled clinical research is available. This is unfortunate, as it is the results of well designed, controlled, and randomized clinical trials that are considered the best evidence of efficacy for a given intervention. In order for the practice of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to become more fully integrated within mainstream medicine, greater attention must be placed on clinical trials, in order to address and overcome this shortcoming.
